I\u2019ve been playing with some options for how we will document this journey for our family. First, we have to settle on a name for our journey, and then set up all the mechanisms with which we will share our travels with our family and friends. Sharing with our family and friends will be very important. Since we won\u2019t be with them physically, we want them to have a way to be with us as we travel. I have zero aspirations of being anything important on YouTube, but I do aspire to make sure our girls and our parents can see what we are seeing. That extends to our family and friends, too. Plus, this will help us ensure we record our journey and the places we get to see. Therefore, I think something like the strategy below will be good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An Instagram page that\u2019s linked to a Facebook page. This way, we don\u2019t clutter up our separate Facebook pages, but we have one place to post updates and pictures. We need a simple YouTube channel to post any videos we create of our campgrounds and the locations we visit (simple, at best \u2013 ignore the question of royalty-free music below). That channel should be linked to our Facebook page. Because I like to write, I\u2019ll keep a blog, which will be linked to the Instagram and Facebook pages. A photography class would be cool just because we have a nice camera and cell phones with capabilities that we don\u2019t know exist without the help of experts showing us how.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I want a title for our journey, just so that I can stop calling it \u201cour change,\u201d or \u201cour journey,\u201d or \u201cour dream.\u201d All of those things sound (and feel) inadequate, and quite frankly, a little cheesy. But on the same hand, I don\u2019t want to over-do the name, in a way that feels (and sounds) forced. Plus, we\u2019ll need a title for our Facebook page and all of that. And a logo, because, why not?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I\u2019ve been reading and reflecting on change, transition, and personal journeys. Some of the quotes below really stood out to me:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Henry David Thoreau:  \u201cIt\u2019s not what you look at that matters, it\u2019s what you see.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Henry David Thoreau:  \u201cGo confidently in the direction of your dreams. Live the life you imagined.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Henry David Thoreau:  \u201cThe mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Robert Frost:  \u201cThose woods are lovely, dark, and deep. But I have promises to keep. And miles to go before I sleep. And miles to go before I sleep.\u201d (From Stopping By Woods on a Snowy Evening<\/em>)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Henry David Thoreau:  \u201cIt is not enough to be busy. So are the ants. The question is:  what are we busy about.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chris, what would you choose?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As for the question of how we will pay for all of this, I\u2019ve given that some more thought, too. The stability-minded side of me says get a job, any job, with steady income to cover the camper and truck payments, and monthly expenses. The driven, Type A side of me, though, (which, by the way, is my dominant side) says this is a unique opportunity to do something different, to use my time in my way. It says be bold, use that drive coupled with my education and professional experience, to do something different. So, I\u2019m contemplating starting my own company, supplemented of course with some steady income \u2013 either through a remote job with an established company, adjunct teaching, or freelance writing, or some combination of all.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n
